Brighton & Hove Collects Award

Brighton & Hove Museums’ craft collection is the most important of its kind in the south of England outside of London, and arguably one of the most significant in the country.

We teamed up with Brighton and Hove Museums’ and at MADE09 gave an award to Julianna Sissons for her knitwear

and Louise Loder for her silver utensils and sand tray.

Both pieces will now join the craft collection.

WOW - what a wonderful show this year! Thank you to all our fantastic exhibitors for making the event 'the highest standard yet' and the record number of visitors who came through the doors and spent with enthusiasm.

Many thanks too to our sponsors especially Coast Magazine for their generous support and to Barefoot Wine for filling glasses with their delicious wines at the Private View.

Here's what some of our visitors said about MADE09...

'best ever'
'excellent show'
'even better than last year - prefer it to Origin'
'surpassed yourselves! beautiful work, right balance of craft '
'brilliant - spent far too much!'
'didn't intend to spend much - but of course i have'
'LOVE this show'
'very impressed with the high standard of skill at all stalls'

MADE showcases over 100 contemporary and highly original makers and designers across all media. With jewellery, furniture, ceramics, textiles, clothing and the odd quirky pieces thrown in - the fair offers beautiful handcrafted objects to suit everyone's taste and budget.

Each year we welcome over 5000 visitors to the show who delight at the quality and extensive range of work. Many, many of these visitors return every year ready to shop!

We see MADE as the twin event to the very successful Brighton Art Fair. We don't believe that there should be such a gulf between art and craft and want to promote the best in contemporary design and craft from makers and designers across the country.

Set amid the Regency splendour of Brighton's Corn Exchange the fair promotes makers who are carefully selected by our committee to create an exciting, diverse and high quality exhibition featuring the best of contemporary craft and design.

A cafe provides a place for visitors to relax with a drink and a bite to eat and contemplate purchases. Tickets are available on the door at £5 per person (children under 14 go free).
