About Us
MADE08 - Brighton's Design and Craft Fair is organised by the team that runs the highly successful Brighton Art Fair.
Brighton Art Fair was set up by artists and printmakers Sarah Young and Tessa Walliman and adminstrators Jon Tutton and Phil Taylor in 2004. The first Brighton Art Fair saw capacity crowds visiting the event and rave reviews for the exhibitors.
Brighton Art Fair is
now firmly established as a major annual event in the arts calendar of
the South East. It is the largest art exhibition on the South Coast and
brings together about 130 of the most talented national painters,
printmakers, photographers and sculptors along with artists groups and
Sussex based galleries.
At
least 5500 visitors from all over the UK visit the Art Fair and the Craft Fair each
year. Many of the visitors enjoy talking to and buying directly from the
artists and makers themselves, learning more about their artwork, techniques and
interests. Every
visitor receives a catalogue detailing the exhibitors at the exhibition
which we hope encourages buyers to contact artists and makers after the event to
buy or commission work and establish a longer term on-going
relationship.
Sales
of artwork grow steadily year on year and feedback from the public is always wonderfully positive. We directly target our marketing to
art and craft buyers, collectors, gallery owners, arts commissioners
and
exhibition curators and many artists and makers have been taken up by
galleries
throughout England and secured excellent commissions as a result of contacts made at the fairs.
